So, the great thing about Clint and Kitty's birthdays being so close together was that they could spread the celebration out for multiple days. Clint had finally reached the point of being used to having his birthday celebrated at all, so having extra time with Kitty was like an awesome bonus. Tonight, birthday celebrating meant hanging out on his couch with many boxes of Chinese takeout, while Lucky and Rook hid next to the couch and waited for Clint to have a chopstick malfunction.

"I was thinking, you should definitely stay over tonight," he said, poking at a piece of broccoli to capture it. "It would be cruel of me to send you home in the cold, don't you think?"

Kitty looked up from her food, jaw dropped in mock surprise. "What? But I never stay over!"

Getting to the teasing early tonight, apparently.

Clint made a face at her and threw his piece of broccoli into her food. Just because he'd aged didn't mean he'd actually gotten older. "I could always throw you out into the cold. I just thought I'd be nice as an early birthday gift."

"You wouldn't throw me out into the cold," Kitty said sweetly, picking up that piece of broccoli with her chopsticks. Hers now! "And that's because you're always nice."

"I'm only nice to you, because you're special. I'm mean to everyone else, you just never see it," Clint said, somehow managing to keep a straight face.

"Oh, yeah, that's what everyone says about you," Kitty lied. "'There's Clint, he's super mean, but his arms are great.'"

Clint got quiet for a moment, genuinely thinking. "Do people really talk about my arms when I'm not around?"

"They have been the star of a couple conversations I've had," she said. "And mentioned on radio, I think, not by me."

"I can't tell if that's flattering or kind of creepy. Maybe both," Clint said, flexing a little for Kitty's benefit.

"It can be two things," Kitty said. "Ooh, and I bet I get to see the arms if I stay over."

Like she couldn't do that at any other time.

"You'll get to see a lot more than that," Clint said with a smirk. "I need to make up for the time we spent together on my birthday."

"Make up for it?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I had a very good time. If you stay over, I might be inclined to make sure you have an especially good time," Clint said.

"Oh! I thought you were going to say it was bad." Because no. "Then what happens on my birthday?"

Clint gave Kitty an incredulous look. "Naked time with you never turns out bad," he said, "and what will happen on your birthday is totally up to you."

"You said you had to make up for it," she protested. "And obviously we're going to have to keep up this trend at least till Monday. Just the way it is."

"Oh no, a whole weekend of fun together time. That's going to be so hard," Clint said dryly.

"That would be several nights," Kitty said. Not that that was exactly a problem.

"Is that supposed to make me not think it's a good idea?" Clint asked. "Because that sounds like a fine idea to me."

"Okay," she said, going for a piece of chicken with her fork. "I'm always so surprised you don't get tired or bored of me after that long." Well, partly. She was awesome.

Clint shrugged and then worked on getting some beef with his chopsticks. "I'm surprised you don't get bored of me too," he said. "You can only spend so much time watching me work on arrows and petting my dogs."

"That's what you think," Kitty smiled. "I dunno, I just like spending time with you, even when we're not doing anything."

"Me too. Even if it's just watching a movie. Or stuffing ourselves full of Chinese food," Clint said, smiling. "It's... just nice, I guess."

"Is this the first step to sounding like an old married couple?" Kitty said after a pause.

That was the sort of question that still made Clint's insides turn, but it wasn't necessarily a bad feeling. "Isn't that more inane bickering at each other over things that don't actually matter?"
